ARTISTS SUPPORTING ARTISTS Thanks to Cassel Miles and Charles Robertson for the February fundraiser! And thanks also to the full house of audience members who help raise enough funds to get a few spaces up and running early!
"SpaceShare opened our eyes to alternative options in Kingston for artists' spaces." Kingston Film Maker
"Because of the creation times we were able to have, we then were able to have a performance ready when COVID restrictions lessened" Kingston Dancer and Choreographer
Hey! Did you know that GRIP now has Not for Profit Status? AND we're GRO-ing. SpaceShare will launch again in April and we're excited to let you know about some new support services we're developing with GRIP's Reach Out (GRO)
"It has helped my dancers get a more realistic view of the preliminary steps that are required when entering into a creation period."
" SpaceShare and GRIP were integral to my band being able to stay connected safely and consistently through the summer of 2021"
Check out our Facebook page for updates. Stay tuned! SpaceShare and more is coming!
"Without GRIP for this part of our productions, we may have had to look outside Kingston for space that would work for us. We were very happy to avoid the extra travel time and logistics of leaving the city."
If you are a professional, independent artist in Kingston and Region, GRIP was there for you with FREE, COVID compliant workspace. That meant FREE space for you to rehearse, develop, record or build! We've been scouring the city for underused community spaces and we've got them! Need a big hall? Yup! A small setting for your personal recording without your roommates in the other room? That too! Are you a visual artist in need of a place to get messy? Hmm..hmm. Need to bang those drums all night long without disturbing your neighbours? We can help. Keep watching this space for SpaceShare's next iteration.
ADVOCACY SUPPORT ACTION PROJECTS
We are now a full Not For Profit entity so are looking forward to lots of partnerships and collaborations. We want to help you as a professional Kingston Artist. We want Kingston artists to be able to stay in Kingston and thrive in their work. We are a collective of GRIP artists based in Kingston, ON. Take a look inside to see what we've been up to since COVID hit and how we can emerge together.
